a loving film about an immigrant family that really does what they have to do to make a living and survive there's a really strong message and that is that no matter what you do in life what matters as an immigrant myself and coming here with my family we we actually did work when I was young at a flea market at a local flea market in that you really understand that it's about the experience but most importantly but the people that you love that you experience those things with and definitely family and sacrifice and doing and working hard is is at the at the heart of this film hi my name is Olivia Sanchez and this is my film pra Maria prosa Maria is a tel Noll Style parody featuring your traditional telen Noella heroine she's about to get married to dream guy and have the dream life and the dream house but uh surprise pregnancy challenges all of that [Music] I [Music] the best G you look fat in that dress you've been gaining weight all I eat is what you cook well if you cook more you wouldn't be gaining so much weight that's why you don't have a boyfriend yet well Tia maybe I do have a boyfriend really don't boyfriend don't boyfriend [Music] your sister is getting married tomorrow and you don't even have anybody to bring to the wedding Rosa Maria is one year older than you and she find a man with this house and beautiful kitchen well if Rosa Maria was so perfect then I wouldn't be too cruel Ros Maria's baby can't survive on his own yet true we she needs to die in a nuan way that you know saved her baby you know that's our job as artists why can't Rosa Maria stay alive and grow as a person like why is that impossible I don't understand because no one wants to see two woman getting along God so how about a car crash no a stabbing to bad taste um she falls down the stairs and falls into a coma I mean that happens all the time right yes strikes the right balance all right ladies get together we're going to do another take of the kitchen scene wait can we make it a little less bright just follow you you'll be fine it's going to be a long day be fun did you I grew up watching telen noas and they certainly informed my understanding of myself and other people interpersonal relationships I am also an attorney and I'm always thinking about like the legal landscape especially as it affects women especially now and I figured that making something that would be fun and engaging but also you know like a little bit quirky would be a good way to address the topic and um and explore some telen Avella culture at the same time [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
